Chiado is the largest shopping district in central Lisbon…
in the past it was the location for the most exclusive stores but international brands are now the norm and you will find brands such as United Colours of Benetton, Zara, H&M and many more. In 1988 the whole area was destroyed by a fire and the whole area had to be rebuilt.
The Armazéns Do Chaido is 6 level shopping centre, with brands such as Pandora, Pepe Jeans London, The body Shop and more. The building was a department store dating from 1894 and it was the largest in the country however during the fire the building was destroyed leaving only the façade. The current centre opened in 1999 to the delight of the shopaholic locals, the centre is undergoing a face lift and more shops will be opening within the centre soon!
