Situated snugly between the Foz o Novo piers and the iconic Felgueiras lighthouse, this beach may be small in size, but it boasts a captivating beauty that resembles a tranquil swimming pool – a sensation created by the protective embrace of the piers on either side.
A visit to this little gem at the mouth of the Douro River promises an enjoyable experience. It may be a bustling spot, brimming with activity, but its allure is undeniable. Positioned right at the river’s entrance, where the mighty Douro meets the boundless Atlantic, this location is more than just a beach; it’s a scenic viewpoint that invites leisurely walks and runs along its shores. Praia do Carneiro
Without a doubt, we wholeheartedly recommend exploring the Northern Amazing Porto Beaches; they are nothing short of amazing. Praia do Carneiro situated just across from the fort at Foz. It features a blend of pebbles and coarse sand, with occasional gusts of wind to keep things interesting.
Fortunately, it provides essential amenities like restrooms. It’s impeccably clean and well-maintained, making it an excellent choice for a sunny day excursion. Access is straightforward via Bus 500 from Sao Bento, or you can opt for buses 204, 203, and more from different areas.

Praia dos Ingleses
This beach is easily accessible and exudes a friendly atmosphere, with conveniently located bathrooms available for a small fee of 20 cents. During our visit, we noticed that the waves and currents were quite strong, making it less suitable for swimming.
The water looked inviting, and the presence of rocks on both sides ensured a safe water experience. While the beach can be bustling with activity, there is still ample space to unwind. It’s impressively clean, and although the water might feel chilly at first, it proves to be delightfully refreshing.
As for amenities, there isn’t much available in the immediate vicinity, so it’s advisable to come prepared if you plan on spending the entire day here. The beach itself is truly beautiful, inviting you to take a leisurely stroll along its shores. Just exercise caution around the rocks.

Praia de Gondarém
This is an excellent spot for photography enthusiasts, offering a remarkably Instagram-worthy setting. In addition to its photogenic appeal, there are also some bars where you can relish the scenic views. It’s a fantastic beach destination equipped with complimentary showers, public restrooms, and a convenient drinking water tap. Additionally, a cozy little bar can be found here.
The ocean’s shallow waters make it perfect for exploration, and there are plenty of intriguing rocks to discover. The beach itself is splendid, providing numerous areas for sunbathing and swimming, catering to various preferences.
For those who love long, picturesque walks, there’s an extensive pathway that stretches for kilometers along the beach, offering breathtaking vistas throughout the journey. I wholeheartedly recommend including this gem in your itinerary during your stay in Porto; it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.

Praia do Molhe
This iconic beach in Foz do Douro is instantly recognizable, thanks to its distinctive landmarks – the Carreiros Molhe, the lifeguard Henrique Moreira statue, and the renowned Pérgola da Foz. While it’s a perfect spot for sunbathing, it’s not the most ideal choice for swimming in the sea.
Fortunately, the beach does offer some essential amenities, including a bar and a restaurant, ensuring that visitors can make the most of their beach experience. What truly sets this beach apart, though, is the breathtaking sunset it offers, arguably the most beautiful in all of Foz. Its fine, windless sands and the rocky formations in the sea that create natural pools make it my favorite beach in Porto.
With its golden sands, an extensive adjacent promenade, and convenient bus access from the city, this urban beach is an absolute gem. You can also enjoy the fantastic restaurant options and the scenic jetty square, all of which provide spectacular views of the ocean. It’s a place where good times are practically guaranteed!

This coastal area boasts a pleasant boardwalk that runs alongside the beach. It’s equipped with playgrounds and restroom facilities, as well as convenient rinse showers. However, please note that parking is situated at a distance and is subject to a fee. Fortunately, there’s a café nearby that offers a selection of delicious snacks and beverages.
