Cascais, a picturesque coastal town in Portugal, is a gem of the Lisbon region, renowned for its charm, historic significance, and stunning seaside landscapes. Nestled along the Atlantic Ocean, Cascais has evolved from a quaint fishing village into a vibrant destination that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity.
Its historic center boasts narrow cobbled streets, pastel-colored buildings, and a lively atmosphere. The town is adorned with cultural landmarks, including the Cascais Citadel and the Santa Marta Lighthouse, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich maritime history. Cascais’ connection to the sea is also evident in its beautiful beaches, such as Praia da Rainha and Praia da Conceição, where golden sands meet the azure waters.
Beyond its historical allure, Cascais has embraced contemporary elements with a range of upscale shops, gourmet restaurants, and trendy cafes lining its streets. The marina attracts sailing enthusiasts, while the Boca do Inferno, a dramatic cliff formation, provides a breathtaking backdrop for nature lovers.
By Train: Travel from Lisbon Cais Do Sodre train station to Cascais, the journey is around 40 minutes and costs around 3.60 euros. A taxi will then be required to travel to Guincho Beach, which is around 10 to 15 minutes taxi ride from the train station.
